Debi-Ann Wrigglesworth

Debi-Ann Wriggleswortg Nutritional Therapist

About Me

I was told by a nutritional therapist that I was allergic to dairy products and that it was this that was the cause of the health problems that the doctors couldn’t get to the bottom of. This made me very aware and greatly interested in the impact that nutrition and food has on the human body. I decided to the College of Naturopathic Medicine diploma course which lasted 3 years and consisted of lectures, practical work, essays and working in a clinic environment.

On qualifying I changed my career and set up Nutrition Mission with the intention of helping other people to achieve great health and vitality. I now successfully work out of Nutrition Mission in the Birmingham area

I am a firm believer that good health is one’s biggest asset – if that’s in place then the world is a much easier place to be.

There are more and more studies being conducted now on the impact that food and nutrition has on our health and well-being with a growing awareness of its implication, not just in maintaining good health but in helping with diseased states.

Nutritional therapy is a complementary therapy that is often used alongside conventional medicine.

A nutritional therapist works with people on an individual basis to find out which nutritional factors are affecting health and then putting in place specific changes to diet and lifestyle in order to try to prevent or alleviate illness.
Often patients have been referred by medical practitioners and we can deal with chronic health problems that conventional medicine may find difficult to treat.

For example, there have been several studies lately that have shown that diet and lifestyle changes are more effective in the battle with type 2 diabetes mellitus than orthodox drugs.

One study by the Diabetes Prevention Program Research Group in the United States of America, who share a similar ‘Western diet’ as the United Kingdon, showed that diet and lifestyle choices are much more effective in reducing the incidence of type 2 diabetes compared to taking orthodox drugs such as Metformin.

The study reports a decrease in diabetes with diet and lifestyle intervention of 58% in just fewer than 3 years compared to just 31% after 3 years on the orthodox drugs.

Basically, you are almost twice as likely to reduce the incidence of diabetes with diet and lifestyle than with orthodox drugs that also have an impact on your liver along with many other possible side-effects.
Fewer people suffering from type II diabetes means fewer people suffering from the long term illnesses associated with diabetes such as eye disease, kidney disease, and ultimately kidney failure, neuropathy and limb amputation as well as lowering cardiovascular disease – a major cause of death in those suffering from diabetes.
Imagine that – using good food and healthy lifestyle to prevent the terrible diseases that we take for granted these day in our old age…
